The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children of about seven years are examined for the first time by an orthodontist (at that age permanent teeth begin to appear in the mouth) to identify any potential problem. Early detection and treatment can help prevent serious complications, reduce the need for possible tooth extraction or improve the outcome of the case by removing any obstacles that can impede proper teeth eruption.
Two-Phase Orthodontic Treatment for Children
If it is determined that treatment is necessary during your child’s first orthodontic consultation, it will require a two-phase approach. The early treatment phase will begin right away, while your child still has most of their primary teeth. The second phase will occur as your child gets older and at a time determined by your child’s growth and dental needs.
Parents are often the first to notice a misaligned tooth or crowding when their child smiles. Contact us early if you feel the need to do so. Give us a call 303.934.4285 and schedule a free consultation or contact us here.
Early treatment ensures a beautiful healthy smile.
